FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Don’t worry, we have answers to all of your questions. Our goal is to make this experience one to remember so the more we can answer the better you’ll be.

  • What are the health benefits of a sauna?
Glad you asked. Here are the top 10 reasons.. Stress Relief: Saunas induce relaxation by helping to reduce levels of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone. The heat promotes the release of endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, resulting in a calming effect on the mind and body. Improved Circulation: The heat from the sauna causes blood vessels to dilate, leading to increased circulation. This enhanced blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients to tissues throughout the body, promoting overall cardiovascular health. Muscle Relaxation: Heat from the sauna helps to relax muscles and alleviate tension. This can be especially beneficial for athletes or those who engage in strenuous physical activity, as it can speed up recovery time and reduce muscle soreness. Detoxification: Sweating is one of the body's natural ways to eliminate toxins. Saunas promote sweating, which helps to flush out toxins from the body through the skin, supporting the detoxification process. Improved Skin Health: The heat and steam of a sauna can open up pores and cleanse the skin, removing impurities and dead skin cells. This can result in improved skin tone, texture, and overall appearance. Enhanced Immune Function: Regular sauna use has been linked to improved immune function. The increase in body temperature during sauna sessions may help to stimulate the production of white blood cells, which play a crucial role in fighting off infections and illness. Pain Relief: Saunas have been shown to provide relief from various types of pain, including joint pain, arthritis, and muscle soreness. The heat helps to increase blood flow to affected areas, reducing inflammation and promoting healing. Improved Respiratory Health: The steam and heat of a sauna can help to open up airways and clear congestion, making it beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, or sinusitis. Better Sleep: Sauna sessions can promote relaxation and stress reduction, which may lead to improved sleep quality. The increase in body temperature during a sauna session followed by a cooldown period mimics the body's natural sleep cycle, helping to regulate sleep patterns. Mental Clarity and Focus: Regular sauna use has been associated with improved cognitive function and mental clarity. The relaxation and stress reduction experienced in the sauna can help to clear the mind, improve focus, and enhance overall cognitive performance.
  • How long can you stay in a sauna?
The duration of time spent in a sauna can vary depending on factors such as personal tolerance to heat, health status, and individual preferences. However, there are some general guidelines to follow to ensure safe and effective sauna sessions: Start Slowly: If you're new to sauna use or have not used one in a while, start with shorter sessions to allow your body to acclimate to the heat. Begin with around 5-10 minutes in the sauna. Gradually Increase Time: As your body becomes accustomed to the heat, you can gradually increase the duration of your sauna sessions. Most people find 15-20 minutes to be a comfortable and effective duration. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how you feel during your sauna session. If you start to feel dizzy, lightheaded, or overly fatigued, it's essential to exit the sauna and cool down immediately. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sauna session to prevent dehydration. The heat of the sauna can cause you to sweat and lose fluids, so it's crucial to replenish them. Take Breaks: It's okay to take breaks during your sauna session, especially if you're feeling overheated or uncomfortable. Step out of the sauna briefly to cool down before returning if needed. Know Your Limits: Some individuals may find that they can tolerate longer sauna sessions than others. However, it's essential to know your own limits and not exceed what feels comfortable for you. Consult with a Healthcare Professional: If you have any underlying health conditions or concerns, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before starting a sauna regimen. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific health needs.
  • Do you deliver the sauna? How far do you deliver?
When you book a rental with us, delivery is included. We currently deliver within 30 miles of Fort Collins, CO. If you live outside of this radius, let’s talk. We can assess a trip charge and see if we can make it work.
  • Can the whole family use the sauna?
Saunas are meant to be shared with others. We encourage you to invite friends and family to join you but it is essential to consider age and health status when determining whether it's appropriate for someone to use a sauna. Children: Sauna use is generally not recommended for young children, particularly infants and toddlers, as they have difficulty regulating their body temperature and may be more susceptible to dehydration and heat-related illnesses. It's best to wait until children are older and better able to tolerate the heat before introducing them to sauna sessions. Additionally, always supervise children closely if they are using a sauna to ensure their safety. Elderly Individuals: Older adults can often safely use saunas, but it's essential to consider their overall health status and any underlying medical conditions. Older adults may be more sensitive to heat and dehydration, so they should use caution and consult with a healthcare professional before starting a sauna regimen. They should also be mindful of their ability to tolerate the heat and may need to limit the duration of their sauna sessions accordingly. Teenagers: Teenagers can typically use saunas safely, but it's essential to ensure they understand how to use them responsibly and to monitor their sauna sessions, particularly if they are new to sauna use. Like adults, teenagers should stay hydrated and avoid spending too much time in the sauna to prevent overheating and dehydration. Pregnant Women: Pregnant women should use caution when using saunas, particularly during the first trimester. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures, such as those found in saunas, can potentially increase the risk of birth defects or other complications. Pregnant women should consult with their healthcare provider before using a sauna and may be advised to avoid or limit sauna use during pregnancy. Individual Health Conditions: Individuals with certain health conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or other chronic medical conditions, should consult with a healthcare professional before using a sauna. Sauna use may not be appropriate for everyone, and it's essential to consider individual health needs and medical advice before beginning a sauna regimen.
  • How many people fit in a sauna?
Model 1 is an entire hot room and fits 10-12 people at a time. Model 2 comes with a changing room and fits 4-6 people at a time in the hot room. If you have a big group of friends or family, alternate in groups one round at a time and high-five each other in between rounds. It’s super fun to time one another and celebrate back and fourth.
  • Is wood provided with the rental?
Yes! Your booking comes with all the premium firewood you will need to stoke the sauna for 5-6 hours of enjoyment each day during the duration of the rental period. If you plan to sauna more than 5-6 hours each day, let us know and we will add more wood to your rental.
  • Is there lighting in the sauna?
Yes! All of our mobile saunas are off-grid equipped with a solar-powered lighting system.
  • What temperature should I aim for?
Our saunas are heated by a Finnish-made Iki stove. From Iki, these stoves are built to operate between 131ºF-167ºF, then the room heat is increased by the addition of water to the rocks on top of the stove. It is by adding water and the beloved resulting steam that we increase the temperature to that upper level of 180-200. We at Foundry Saunas like the temp at 165. Fun fact: that beloved steam has a word, and it’s loyly in Finnish.
  • How should I prepare for the delivery?
The most common place for a delivery drop off is in your driveway or at your curbside. For a successful delivery, you must provide an accessible location free of obstruction that is flat and relatively level for a truck and trailer to back-in or pull-up to. We can help you verify your delivery site if you send us some photos or videos.
  • What sanitizing practices do you use?
Our saunas go through a full cleaning process between each rental. We ensure the entire interior (door, floors, benches, stove, windows) are properly cleaned. We require that all participants remove their footwear prior to entering the sauna and that you place a towel down whenever your body is in contact with the benches to absorb your sweat.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel any time before 72 hours prior to delivery for a full refund. If you cancel after 72 hours, we will refund your security deposit but may need to keep some or all of the rental fee.
  • Will you demonstrate how the sauna works?
Absolutely! During our Delivery Confirmation, we walk you through all the how-to’s and ensure you have the confidence to have a successful sauna experience. Additionally, we have a User Guide that says with the sauna that can answer any questions you have after the delivery.
